Quails have won 2 Gold Stars for their sirloin steaks and one gold star for their fillet steaks at this years Great Taste Awards.

Organised by The Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Awards is the national, benchmark food awards employing the country’s most rigorous judging system, ensuring the fairest, most accurate and trusted results.

The 2010 GTAs has attracted a record number of entries. In total, 6021 food and drink products were blind-tasted, tested and discussed during two months of intense judging by 350 judges, comprising food writers, chefs, deli and farm shop owners, food producers and buyers.

Quails are delighted to be among the country’s most highly rated foods. Joseph Quail says of their success, we are thrilled to have won these two awards,we put a lot of effort into selecting the best local Limousin heifers from our farms and specially selected  local farms. We then traditionally dry age our beef for up to one month on the bone. This ensures that all our beef is tender, juicy and full of flavour. We have known over 100 years that our traditional method of maturation is the best and now we have the national awards to back it up.

The Guild of Fine Food’s Bob Farrand commented of this year’s entries “It’s so exciting to see the standards of food and drink in the British Isles go from strength to strength, year after year, proving that for those who enjoy great food – it’s there to be discovered”. Farrand continued, “We have worked hard to ensure our judging process is as robust as possible. Judging teams are balanced in terms of experience, background and even gender and every Gold Award winning entry has been independently proven to be of the highest standard.”
